“The American Democracy Project is a multi-campus initiative that seeks to create an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic engagement for undergraduates enrolled at institutions that are members of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). The goal of the project is to produce graduates who understand and are committed to engaging in meaningful actions as citizens in a democracy.”
– American Association of State Colleges and Universities

Understanding that a healthy democracy is dependent on a civically engaged citizenry, Kennesaw State University is actively working to foster a culture of civic responsibility and action through the American Democracy Project (ADP.)

ADP in conjunction with the Political Engagement Project (PEP) is housed in University College. The work of the ADP/PEP committee is the product of institute wide collaboration between faculty, staff, and students. The committee is composed of faculty from a variety of colleges, such as: Science and Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Education. Committee representatives from the Center for Student Leadership, the Global Institute, Student Life, and Volunteer KSU also sit on the committee. In addition to having a representative from student government on the ADP/PEP Committee students interested in civic and political engagement sit on the committee. The interdisciplinary nature the university’s committee lends itself to collaborative efforts and allows the committee to reach a variety of students.
